In 2018, Imagine H2O Asia featured as a dedicated track within the Urban Water Challenge. Three startups were selected from a field of 100+ to be showcased at Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH). Activities included high-profile pitch sessions, in-country one-on-one customer and investor meetings, and a dialogue session with key stakeholders from industry and academia to explore the barriers to commercialization of water startups in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The initial engagement in 2018 informed the design and development of Imagine H2O Asia’s full-scale accelerator program for 2019.
2018 Imagine H2O Asia Participants
Drinkwell (Dhaka, Bangladesh) enables utilities to provide safe drinking water to underserved urban communities via turnkey Water ATM solutions that combine a patented filtration technology, IOT-enabled operations and pay-as-you-go cards.
Drinkwell was awarded 4th place at Slingshot@SWITCH out of a total of 1,000+ applicants
Watchtower Robotics (Cambridge, MA) provides an untethered robotic tool for high-accuracy and early leak detection in water distribution pipes. A cloud based analytics platform informs operators of the location and size of the leak as well as the likelihood of catastrophic failure.
Watchtower Robotics was selected to advance to the Final Round at Slingshot@SWITCH, among the top 30 companies overall
THE.WAVE.TALK (Seoul, South Korea) deploys a novel laser technology to detect bacterial contamination in real-time of entire industrial water production systems. This replaces standard methods of detection which take days and rely on sampling a subset of the total water volume.
The three 2018 finalists were fast-tracked to the qualifying round of Slingshot@SWITCH, competing for grand prizes among 80 top startups from around the world. Imagine H2O Asia 2019 will feature an expanded presence at SWITCH 2019. Stay tuned for updates.
